NO. 11 | a more beautiful world (2017)

A New Liturgy No 11: A More Beautiful World is a collaboration from 2017 that feels more alive and needed today than ever. PreEmptive Love Coalition invited Aaron Niequist to create a four part liturgy that helped exhausted activists center our hearts in HOPE and ask “What is the more beautiful world our hearts can imagine?” Aaron pulled together three brilliant artists—Sharon Irving, Thomas Egler, and Fatai—to write and record this four-part journey.

Movement one: Looking back in gratitude
Movement two: Looking back in lament
Movement three: Begin to imagine a more beautiful world
Movement four: Offering our hands and feet in hope

To create hospitable space for a diverse community of global peacemakers, we crafted the liturgy to be as interfaith as possible. We open our hearts and lives to the Loving Creator without excluding anyone through overly prescriptive religious language. We pray this is a gift to you, regardless of your theological home. And for those who resonate with a more overtly Christian focus, we’ve included a pdf of more Christian-inspired prayers and language.

Thomas Egler is a fantastic drummer, multi-instrumentalist, and all around musician. He currently spends most of his time in media production, trying to make the world a more beautiful place.

Sharon Irving is a singer, songwriter, worship leader, poet, rapper, actress, and voice over artist. She is an inspiring ‘voice for the voiceless’, a passionate wordsmith spewing truth and inspiration, singing songs of life and love motivated by her personal experiences and undergirded by her Christian beliefs. Sharon has a passion and gift for shaping words and everyday phrases to melody.

Fatai has traveled the world over the past four years on tour, selling out shows across North America, The United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Described as having a vocal style that lies “somewhere between Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys,” Ppcorn.com declares that her “every note is infused with a delicacy and strength that beautifully contradicts itself.”

LYRICS

a more beautiful world | aaron niequist

What is the more
Beautiful world
Your heart can imagine
Your heart can imagine?
(repeat)

And our hearts believe it’s possible…

Our hands believe it’s possible…

Our lives can make it possible…

Our love can make it possible…
